Feminine hygiene wash and intimate wash are the same product, so there is one page here for both.
Why pH and mildness matter
The vagina cleans itself, and a wash is only meant for the outer skin, the vulva. Skin of the area is thin and sensitive, and the natural vaginal environment is slightly acidic, usually around pH 3.8 to 4.5. A harsh or alkaline soap can irritate. A good intimate wash is mild, usually adjusted with lactic acid to a slightly acidic pH, and does not contain strong fragrance, dyes or antibacterial agents.
What a wash can honestly claim
Acceptable: gentle cleansing, pH-balanced, helps maintain freshness, suitable for daily external use. Avoid: treats or prevents infection, removes odour permanently, cures itching, tightens or whitens. Claims about infection or itching are medical claims.
Test claims properly: dermatologically tested or gynaecologist-tested needs documented evidence. See cosmetic claims in India.
Discreet, practical packs
100 to 200 ml pump bottles or flip-cap bottles with a clean, discreet design. A pump keeps the product clean and avoids waste.

Common mistakes
Intimate Wash: common questions
Is intimate wash needed?
Many people use only water or a mild cleanser. An intimate wash is a personal choice, and the label should not imply otherwise.
What pH should it be?
Typically mildly acidic, agreed with your adviser and tested on the final formula.
Can I claim it treats infection?
No. That is a medical claim.
Can it be herbal?
Yes, with careful botanicals and modest claims.
