Sell Cosmetics on Amazon, Nykaa and Flipkart

Marketplaces do not accept a beauty product just because it looks good. They check who made it, whether it is allowed to be sold and whether the listing matches the pack. This guide turns those checks into a pack you prepare once.

Three marketplaces, three ways in

Amazon India and Flipkart are open seller platforms. You register as a seller, upload your documents and list your products. Nykaa is a curated beauty retailer, so brands apply to its buying team and are chosen. We describe this from public seller guides and the platforms’ own seller sites. Rules and forms change, so check each platform’s current requirements before you apply, starting with Amazon Seller Central.

The document pack

What to have ready

✓A copy of the manufacturer’s licence (Form COS-8 in published summaries), and your own loan licence where it applies. See how a manufacturing licence works and the brand owner licence guide.
✓GST registration and business details. See GST for cosmetic brands.
✓A trademark application or registration for your brand name. Amazon’s brand programmes generally ask for one; check the current requirement. See how to register a brand name.
✓Barcodes (GS1) for each product. See barcodes for cosmetics.
✓Clear photographs of the packaging, front, back, sides and base, showing the label.
✓The full ingredient list and a safety or formula summary from your manufacturer.
✓Test reports for any claim, such as SPF for a sunscreen. See SPF and PA testing.
✓Batch and expiry details for the first stock.

Keep these in one folder, so you can answer a marketplace query in a day.

Listing

Content that matches the pack

Most delays come from a listing that does not match the product. Marketplaces compare your text, your photos and your documents.

01

Title

Brand, product, key variant and size, in the same wording as the pack.

02

Images

A clean front shot, a label shot where the legal text is readable, the ingredient list, and one lifestyle image.

03

Description

What the product is, how to use it and any warnings, in plain wording.

04

Ingredients

Copy the list from the label exactly, in the same order.

05

Claims

Use only wording you can support. See cosmetic claims in India and beauty advertising rules.

06

Details

Net quantity, MRP, expiry or best-before, country of origin and manufacturer details, as on the pack.

A mismatch between the listing and the label is a common reason for a take-down. Change both together.
