Claims

Cosmetic claims, and why they matter for doctors

A clinic range is made and sold as cosmetics. That means cosmetic wording: gentle, moisturising, helps skin look more even. Words such as treats, cures or heals describe medicines. A product that does need a medicine claim belongs under a drug licence, not in our cosmetic range, and we tell you if your brief falls on that side.

✓Dermatologist tested or hypoallergenic claims need a test report behind them.
✓Do not use a doctor’s name, image or recommendation without a proper written agreement.
✓Before and after photos need to be real and typical.
✓Check the advertising rules that apply to medical professionals in your own state and professional body.

Formula

Short lists suit sensitive skin

✓Fragrance-free is the clinic default.
✓Keep active ingredient levels moderate and tell patients how to use them.
✓Add barrier-support ingredients to any active product.
✓Patch test before launch, with documents kept on file.
